How do I add my music?
In Playlists, tap +, then Import a Folder for a folder or a zip, or Import Files for songs, which go into a playlist you choose. You can also open music in Refrain from Files, Safari or another app, drop it onto Refrain on iPad, or put it in Refrain's folder in iCloud Drive from any device, including a Mac.
Refrain copies what you import, so the originals stay where they were.
How are my folders turned into playlists?
Each folder with music becomes a playlist named after it, and a folder of folders becomes a playlist folder. An .m3u file in a folder sets its order; otherwise it follows the track numbers, then the file names. A cover, folder or front image becomes its artwork, and an .lrc file with a song's name gives it lyrics.
Which formats play?
MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, Opus, Ogg Vorbis and WebM audio, including hi-res files, and music videos in MP4, MOV and M4V.
Why didn't some files import?
Formats Refrain can't play, such as WMA, APE, WavPack and DSD, are left out, and the message after an import lists them under Details. Convert them to FLAC or ALAC to play them in Refrain.
How do I get my music on my other devices?
Sign in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on, and leave iCloud sync on in Refrain's Settings, under iCloud & Storage. Your music goes to Refrain's folder in iCloud Drive, and your playlists, loves and plays follow it. Opening Refrain on another device offers to carry on from where you were.
Refrain is using a lot of space.
With iCloud sync on, songs download as you play them and can go back to iCloud. In Settings, iCloud & Storage shows how much is on the device, and Remove All Downloads frees it; the songs stay in your library. To keep a playlist or album ready offline, choose Download from its menu.
How do I add lyrics?
Put an .lrc file with the same name beside the song, or use a file with lyrics in its tags. Synced lyrics follow the song as it plays.
I deleted a song by mistake.
Deleted songs stay in Recently Deleted, in the Library tab, for 30 days. Restore them from there.
